This is a weekly post devoted to following up on all the overseas-based footballers who have played for the Philippines. Like what the title stated, this is a recap of games of a team that has a Filipino in the lineup. And again, for him to be included in the tracking process, either he has to have capped for the Philippines or been named to the lineup as a reserve, or has been locked to or agreed to play for us (as with the case of the likes of Kevin Ingreso). So, if you are looking for David Alaba, Jonathan De Guzman and Alphonse Areola, you will not find him here (and in the case of Areola, not yet, anyway).
If you feel that there is a name missing on the list that you would like me to monitor as well, or even correct me on some things, you may do so by emailing me at john.paul.manahan@soccercentral.ph or by tweeting me @misterjpmanahan for anything. You may also write them on the comments page below. Again, do take note they have to qualify to the parameters set above. Major thanks to Wiking for the assist in detailing the info.
Now onto the players:
Neil Etheridge - Fulham (Barclays Premier League)
Neil remains as the chief reliever of David Stockdale in their 5-2 romp over Newcastle. FA Cup resumes with Everton being their next draw this weekend.
Kevin Ingreso - Hambruger SV (1. Bundesliga)
Borussia Dortmund reminded people that they are still making an effort for the title, winning 5-1 against Hamburg SV, but no sign of Kevin in the match. Hertha Berlin lies ahead on the 29th.
Stephan Schröck - SpVgg Greuther Fürth (2. Bundesliga)
Stephan incurred a toe injury that necessitated him to return to Germany from Turkey, where the team had been based during the winter break, to see a specialist. The pain was apparently too much even with a specifically designed shoe to allow him to train during the span. Rumors are indicating such an injury will last 4-6 weeks, which puts even more questions as to his slim availability chances in the AFC Challenge Cup this March. The upcoming free agent thus missed a 4-1 win by the Kleeblatt against Austria Wien. Since he is back in Germany, he will be missing club friendlies against FC Trenkwalder Admira, Red Bull Salzburg and Sturm Graz this week.
Roland Müller - MSV Duisburg (2. Bundesliga)
Roland did not play in their club friendlies against Energie Cottbus and Red Bull Salzburg. We are still waiting for a result on their match against Pandurii Targu Jiu. MSV II will resume their action against Blau-Weiß Oberhausen with the senior squad resuming 2. Bundesliga action this February.
Manny Ott - FC Ingolstadt II (Regionalliga Süd)
The division where he plays is on a winter break until March.
Patrick Hinrichsen - SV Darmstadt 98 II (VL Gr.Süd)
SV Darmstadt 98 II resumes action on February 26 against Spvgg.Neu-Isenburg.
Oliver Pötschke - BFC Preussen Berlin (Berlin-liga)
BFC Preussen Berlin lost 2-1 to SFC Stern 1900 in the resumption of action in the Berlin-liga. Oliver played the entirety of the match. Up next is FC Hertha 03 on the 29th.
Mark Drinkuth - DJK Agon 08 Dü-dorf (Bezirksliga Gruppe 1)
DJK Agon will resume action on February 26 against Genclerbirligi Opladen.
Ray Jonsson - Grindavik (Úrvalsdeild)
The Icelandic football season will resume in May 5, 2012.
Jerry Lucena - AGF (Danish Superliga)
The Danes are currently on their winter break and league action won't resume until they face Nordsjælland in March 2012. Meanwhile, club friendlies have been scheduled starting at the end of the month.
Dennis Cagara - Lyngby (Danish Superliga) ???
The defender's contract with the Danish club ended during the winter break of the Danish Superliga. He's currently trying out with some lower division German clubs, namely Chemnitzer FC of the 3. Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga outfit FSV Frankfurt. Dennis participated in a test match for FSV Frankfurt against Mallorca B to see if he can be a fit to their plans.
Paul Mulders - ADO Den Haag (Eredivisie)
A 3-3 draw against Roda JC kicked off Ere Divisie action for the new year. Unfortunately, Paul did not figure in the action as he incurred a groin injury during the winter break. The draw allowed them to secure solo tenth in the league, but they'll need to run up some wins to catch up to the final European place in play. They are scheduled to face NEC on the 29th.
Jason de Jong - FC Dordecht '90 (youth)
They are scheduled to face Jong VVV Venlo in January 2012.
Jacques Van Bossche - Koninklijke Standaard Wetteren (Division II)
Jacques will be unavailable for Wetteren when they play Roeselare, due to academics. They are also scheduled to play this weekend against Oostende.
Jeffrey Christiaens - Torhout 1992 KM (Division III Group A)
Jeff injured ligaments in his ankle and will miss the next four weeks at the earliest. He did not figure in their 2-1 win against Doornik. He had been expected to be a part of the team being assembled for the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy ,but will miss it now with the injury.
Chris Greatwich - Morris County Colonials (National Premier Soccer League)
It's still the offseason for Chris in the NPSL, whose season is scheduled to begin in earnest most likely in May.
