Lionel Messi sealed a great 2011 for him and FC Barcelona by winning his third straight Ballon d'Or in the gala held at Zurich, Switzerland. He bested fellow finalists Cristiano Ronaldo and Xavi to win the award, garnering 47.88% of the vote. He follows French legend Michel Platini (1983-85) as the only winners of the award for three consecutive years.
As Filipino soccer fans were eagerly awaiting who will confront each other for the right to hold the UFL Cup, FIFA just announced its finalists for the Ballon D'or. And it will have some Spanish flavor.
